Hardik Pandya struggle in IPL after rejoining MI

Mumbai Indians who finished last season’s IPL at the bottom of the table, hoped to start off their IPL 2025 on high notes, unfortunately they are currently positioned on the 9th spot with 0 points accounted for their 2-game losing streak. With fans and critics questioning the decisions regarding the squad and gameplay, let’s take a look at Hardik Pandya struggle in IPL after rejoining MI.

Hardik Pandya Journey with Mumbai Indians

Hardik Pandya began his IPL journey with Mumbai Indians in the year 2015 with Mumbai Indians. He spent his time with MI for 7 seven years and won 4 IPL titles with them, in the year 2022 he was picked by Gujarat Titans and was made the franchise captain. He then went on to lead them to the title winning year, in his captaincy debut year, and the next year as runner ups.

After MI acquired him again in 2024 making him the captain, MI has been struggling since his arrival. Although he has amassed 2,536 runs and 66 wickets in his 138 match career, his captaincy tenure with MI has been going down the road. With MI finishing at the bottom of the table last season, so why is Pandya’s captaincy tenure going the wrong way?

Where did MI take the wrong turn?

Mumbai Indians who played 14 matches last season, won 4 of them and lost 10 of them. Hardik Pandya who has been a prolific player for MI and GT, is somewhat missing his captaincy charm within the team. Although the Mumbai Indians squad is missing their key pacer Jasprit Bumrah, their squad for IPL 2025 is top-tier. Hardik Pandya will be needing to find balance in his leadership and the team available for the 2025 campaign. If Hardik Pandya tends to find this balance, we are looking at a formidable squad for IPL 2025.
