Chennai Super Kings vs Royal Challengers Bengaluru highlights
RCB ends 17-Year winless drought at Chepauk with a 50-Run victory over CSK
Batting first, RCB posted a competitive total of 196/7, thanks to crucial contributions from Rajat Patidar (51 off 32), Phil Salt (32 off 16), and Virat Kohli (31 off 30).
While Chennai’s bowlers, especially Noor Ahmad three for 36, tried to contain the damage, Tim David’s late flourish unbeaten 22 off 8 ensured a challenging target for CSK.
In response, CSK’s chase never gained momentum as RCB’s bowlers maintained relentless pressure. The early dismissals of Rahul Tripathi for five and skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad (0) set the tone for CSK’s struggles.
Deepak Hooda (4) and Sam Curran (8) failed to stabilize the innings, while Shivam Dube (19) and Ravindra Jadeja (25) provided brief resistance. However, Josh Hazlewood, three for 21 and Liam Livingstone two for 28 ran through the middle order, leaving CSK reeling at 99/7.
Despite a late counterattack from MS Dhoni (30* off 16), the target proved insurmountable as CSK finished at 146/8 in 20 overs.
RCB’s victory was built on disciplined bowling and a well-rounded batting display. While their top order set the platform, the middle-order batters accelerated at crucial moments.
On the bowling front, Hazlewood’s accuracy and Livingstone’s clever variations ensured CSK never found momentum. Yash Dayal (1/20) and Bhuvneshwar Kumar (1/10) also chipped in with key wickets.
RCB will take confidence from this emphatic win and will also remain on top of the points table.
