IPL 2025 is set to begin from 22 march, 2025. With the first match being an intense rivalry between Kolkata Knight Riders against Royals Challengers Bengaluru. The league stage of the tournament will be based around 70 matches, so let’s have a look at the Crucial Matches to Watch in IPL 2025

KKR vs SRH

Last edition’s final matchup has always had an exciting ring to it, Sunrisers Hyderabad who had lost to the Kolkata side will aim for redemption against them in the upcoming match against them. Hyderabad are set to play against them in the 15th match on 3rd April at Eden Gardens, Kolkata. Their second matchup will be played at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad, on 10th of May. 

GT vs LSG

The Gujarat Titans and Lucknow Super Giants have quickly developed into a fierce rivalry, emerging within just three years of intense competition. In their last 5 matches played, Gujarat has won 4 of them. They will face them on 12th April first at their home stadium, and then on 14th May, playing away. 

RCB vs CSK

This South Indian derby brings together two major cities, with the rivalry further fueled by political tensions over the Cauvery River. Both teams feature star players that make the match highly anticipated. The rivalry has seen 31 encounters, with CSK winning 20 and RCB winning 10, plus one no result. 

In their lone final meeting, CSK emerged victorious. One memorable moment was during the 2012 IPL when CSK chased down 206. RCB will first face them on 8th March, away from Bengaluru, and then play them again on 3rd May at M Chinnaswamy Stadium. 

KKR vs RCB

The rivalry between Kolkata Knight Riders and Royal Challengers Bangalore is the most heated match in IPL history, starting on day one of the inaugural season in 2008. Brendon McCullum’s explosive 158 led KKR to a crushing victory over RCB, who struggled and finished seventh. KKR are the third most successful IPL team, while RCB have yet to win the trophy. 

Chris Gayle who was once rejected by KKR, joined RCB in 2011 and became one of the IPL’s greatest batsmen. KKR currently lead head-to-head 20-14. Their encounters often feature high drama, highlighted by the famous Gambhir-Kohli clash. KKR faces RCB in the season opener which is on 22rd march,at Eden Gardens and will play against them again on 17th May, at Bengaluru. 

MI vs CSK

Mumbai Indians vs Chennai Super Kings is the Indian Premier League’s heavyweight clash, both the franchises hold 5 titles each, which adds an extra level of intense drama to this matchup. They have played each other 37 times, Mumbai lead with 20 wins and Chennai are behind by 17 wins, which is pretty intense to be fair. They will play their first match on 23rd March at Chepauk, and will meet again on 20th March at Wankhede.
