A comprehensive win for team India, India won the toss and elected to bat first was the pitch was good for batting. Both the Opener started slowly, once settled started playing their shot.

Fantastic hundred by Shikar Dhawan and half-century by Rohit and Kohli.

Dhoni and Hardik Pandya finished the inning’s on a high note. Australia bowling looks wayward as no one was unable to take wickets. Adam Zampa was not in the groove and look short of confidence.

Steve Smith (69), David Warner (56) and Alex Carey (55 not out) scored the bulk of the runs for Australia, who tasted their first defeat after wins against Afghanistan and West Indies earlier in the tournament.

India’s new-ball pair of Bhuvneshwar Kumar (3-50) and Jasprit Bumrah (3-61) shared six wickets between them while spinner Yuzvendra Chahal claimed 2 wickets even Bhuvi had a good time with the ball and took 2 wickets in one over and ring the curtain down of Australian innings.

After yesterday’s win, India stands at 3rd position of the points table with a Net run rate of +0.539. And Australia slides down to the 4th position of the table.

India takes these 2 crucial points and will be confident to take on New Zealand on 13th Jun 2019 at Trent Bridge.

Shikar Dhawan (Man of Match award):

We are very happy, a great team effort. The best thing is that everyone is performing. We took great catches, had good stops and we have a very balanced side, fast bowlers and spinners. We work really hard in the nets and that’s why results are going our way.

Aron Finch:

They got 120 off the last 10 – which was a lot. We didn’t get too many wickets and when you have experienced guys and powerful guys it’s tough for anyone. Being a used surface didn’t help with the new ball. But we could have been a bit more back of a length, but India bat very deep. They just outplayed us. You need to asses the conditions and pick the XI. We will be in a better place to make the decision in Taunton. There are 10 ways to get out and run out was one of them. They bowled very well to Warner and he needs some more time. He’s a world-class player and will get us to a flier.

Virat Kohli:

Top, top win for us after losing that series in India. We had a point to prove. We just came with intent, the opening stand was outstanding. Hardik, me, MS, it was a flat wicket, but we were very professional that’s always pleasing as a captain. You can’t take things for granted just because you have 350 on the board. I held one up and Hardik could go from ball one. If Shami plays, it has to be proper overcast and bowling conditions. Bhuvneshwar the new ball, old ball – the wickets of Smith and Stoinis. These guys are very experienced, you hardly need to say anything to them.
