Gautam Gambhir Returns India amid India Tour of England 2025
Gautam Gambhir is the current head coach of the Indian team. After having a dominant title win in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, the team is now focusing on having a great start in the new cycle of WTC 2025-27. However, Gautam Gambhir had to leave the team in the midst of the training for the tour.
Various news sources say that the former cricketer headed back to India to attend his mother who has been admitted in a New Delhi Hospital due to cardiac arrest. In his absence, the assistant coach, Ryan ten Doeschate will be taking charge of the training sessions, until the situation is in control. BCCI sources indicate Gambhir can rejoin before the first test in Headingley in Leeds which starts from 20th June, 2025.
How has the team been preparing for the England Tour?
After having drawn both the unofficial tests against the England Lions, India and India A will be playing a test in closed doors, which is the last ditch effort or training before the tour against England starts from 20th of June.
Last time the senior team played the test series was the BGT test in the early Janurary, which is about 4 months back, this test against the India A will be a helping hand for the senior men to get the momentum back, in their bid to prepare themselves for the important and first test series of the new WTC Cycle of 2025-27.
