Rishabh Pant’s 7th Test Ton Lifts India Past 450 in First Innings at Leeds

India Tour of England 2nd Day of 1st Test Update

On the first day of the first test against England in Leeds, India saw two centuries from Yashasvi Jaiswal and their new skipper Shubman Gill. However as they go in the 2nd day from 359/3, we take a look at what has been happening in the India tour of England 2nd Day of 1st Test update.

Fiery start from Team India

Team India at lunch is 7 wickets down, which could be seen as a rather uncertain point for any point. However, India is 454 runs down for 7 wickets, which showcases how great they have been taking the advantage of the pace condition of the pitch in Leeds. Not only did they cross 450+ runs, but players Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shubman Gill and Rishabh Pant have scored centuries individually in the first innings. Shubman Gill although fell short of just 3 runs from 150 runs, and Rishabh Pant was dismissed for 134 off 178 balls.

Rishabh Pant’s deserving knock

Rishabh Pant’s 134 not helped India but also had a significant impact on his career as well, after an awful IPL 2025, he has scored his seventh test century, fourth against England, and third in England. This showcases his dominance on these pitches, wherein he is not afraid of the swinging Duke ball.

Ben Stokes Leading the Charge

Karun Nair who made his way back into the red-ball squad for India after a long-period of brief break, was dismissed in the fourth ball he faced by Ben Stokes. Ben Stokes has been the only prolific performer from the English side with 4 wickets in 19 overs bowled, and with most of India’s batting squad dismissed, the English side will be aiming to start their chasing as soon as possible to lead in the first test. As both the teams are competing well to start the new WTC cycle as strong as possible.
