India squad update for India tour of England 2025

India will be aiming to start fresh in the new WTC cycle of 2025-27. Their first test series will be against England that too on the English pitches. Let’s take a look at India squad update for India Tour of England 2025. 

The Squad for the Tour

Shubman Gill is the new test captain, who will face a tough opponent the English team on the English pitches from 20th June of 2025. The squad also boasts players like Rishabh Pant who is the vice captain and the wicket-keeper, young gun Yashasvi Jaiswal, BGT’s consistent performer KL Rahul, the IPL sensation Sai Sudharsan. 

Karun Nair was also added back in the squad after having a significant Vijay Hazare and Ranji Trophy perforamances, young talent like Abhimanyu Easwaran will be given a chance to porve himself, BGT centurion Nitish Kumar Reddy will be aiming to perform at the highest level again, the versatile all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja will be an important player, Dhruv Jurel was added after having a decent IPL and strong domestic performances, Washington Sundar will be Jadeja’s companion. 

The bowlers will be Shardul Thakur who has been strong with the red ball, Jasprit Bumrah has been stellar on the English pitches and will aim to replicate those performances, Mohammed Siraj will be a supportive pillar on the lineup, Prasidh Krishna after his IPL performances will be a stronge wicket taker, Akash Deep will be a supportive pillar with  Arshdeep Singh being given a maiden chance in tests and Kuldeep Yadav will round up with spin. 

What’s at stake for Team India

Team India has been losing the last two WTC finals consecutively on top of that they haven’t even reached the WTC final this year. With veterans like Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and Ravichandran Ashwin retiring from the test format. The new revamped squad and Shubman Gill as the new captain will be hoping to turn the tide and aim for the WTC glory in the 2025-27 cycle with the first test series starting against England.
