India Capitals beat Bhilwara Kings to win second season of Legends League

Legends League Highlights: India Capitals defeated the Bhilwara Kings by 104 runs in a crackling encounter at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur on Wednesday.

The entertaining final saw fireworks from the legendary New Zealand batter Ross Taylor, Australian legend Mitchell Johnson, and West Indies Ashley Nurse that provide an edge over the opponent to their side by driving the India Capitals to 211 in 20 overs.

Later, their bowlers handled the situation and restricted the Bhilwara side to just 107 to claim the Legends League Cricket 2022 trophy.

Bhilwara Kings after winning the toss opted to bowl, and their bowlers proved the decision right by removing the top-4 batters of India Capitals for just 21 and at that stage it was look like a low-scoring final game.

But, Ross Taylor and Mitchell Johnson had something else in mind. They both not just soaked the pressure from their sides’ but also guided the team to set a strong total.

By the time, the fast-bowler Johnson leaved the crease, the Capitals score were 147 for 5 with still 33 balls more to play.

Johnson with the bat was as aggressive as he is always with the ball. He played a knock of 62 off just 35. His knock included seven fours and three sixes.

Taylor too was unstoppable the other end and played an innings with a strike-rate of 200 before leaving the field. His knock of 82 off 41 set the tone for the India Capitals that Nurse Ashley Nurse took it forward with an unbeaten 42 off just 19 to guide the side to 211 for 7 in 20 overs.

Bhilwara Kings to chase 212

In reply, the team led by Irfan Pathan failed to get rid off the big target pressure and crumbled out for 107 as none of their batter showed any signs of fighting spirit during the night of finals.

Shane Watson scored the highest run for the side and was looking in good touch, but unfortunately got run-out he the right-hander was at 27 in 19.

Pawan Suyal, Pravin Tambe and Pankaj Singh bagged 2-2 wickets each. While Mitchell Johnson, Liam Plunkett and Rajat Bhatia dismissed 1-1 each.

Ross Taylor was awarded with the player of the tournament trophy for his innings building and pressure soaking knock of 82 off just 41 with the help of four fours and six maximums.
