Team India registered their second win of the continental event as they defeated Malaysia by DLS method in the sixth match of the Women’s Asia Cup 2022 on Monday.

The Women in blue after recording 181 for 4 in 20 overs, and later their bowlers removed two of the Malaysia batters early during the defend before rain-halted the game.

After waiting for the reserved time to start the play, the officials decided to end the match by DLS method as the outfield was too wet, and Indian side who were much ahead of Malaysia in every department won the match by 30 runs.

Malaysia after winning the toss elected to bowl, but failed to restrict Indian batters as they thought.

Smriti Mandhana was given a rest for the match. And Sabbhineni Meghana got the opportunity to open the innings for India alongside Shafali Verma.

Meghana grabbed the chance with both hands and provided India a solid start.

Sabbhineni Meghana and Shafali Verma both added 116 for the first wicket before the former got out with a score of 69 off 53.

Shafali Verma, who was seen out of touch for the last couple of games, tried to bring her form back by scoring 46 runs.

She played the anchor role aside Meghana, but got out in the second last over of India’s innings. She faced 39 balls in the process, including one four and three maximums.

Kiran Navgire, however, missed the opportunity and dismissed on duck. While Radha Yadav also walked back after scoring 8 off 4.

Dayalan Hemalatha provided India the perfect finish with her 4-ball 10 knock. The wicketkeeper batter Richa Ghosh remained not out for 33 off 19.

Malaysia to chase 182 

Chasing a target of 182, the all-rounder Deepti Sharma removed Malaysia’s skipper Winifred Duraisingam in the very first over of the innings. While Rajeshwari Gayakwad dismissed wicketkeeper Wan Julia for 1.

Malaysia were 16 for 2, the time rain stopped the game. And then officials decided to end the game as the outfield was wet after waiting for time.

Sabbhineni Meghana won the player of the match award for her 69 runs knock that guide India put up a strong total on board.

Earlier, India had given rest to Smriti Mandhana, Pooja Vastrakar, Sneh Rana and Renuka Singh for the game.

With the win, India moved to second place on the points table with a run-rate of 2.803. While Pakistan is standing at top with 2 out of 2 wins and a bit better net run-rate than India.

Team India will play their next match on Tuesday against United Arab Emirates at the same venue.
