IND vs WI: Eden Gardens Set To Have 75 Percent Attendance For The T20Is

Team India will host the West Indies in a limited-overs series which will be held from February 6, consisting of 3 one-day internationals and 3 T20Is. Whereas the first 3 ODIs will be staged in Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium, and the Twenty20 Internationals, will be staged at Kolkata’s famous Eden Gardens.

Furthermore, it has been revealed that fans will be permitted to enter the Eden Gardens to witness all 3 T20I matches, and the iconic venue is expected to have a 75 percent crowd for the shortest format. The West Bengal government has officially confirmed the same, and the President of the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) has also confirmed the same.

“All indoor and outdoor sports activities will be allowed with 75 percent of the capacity of the venue,” the West Bengal government official said.

CAB is confident that it will be able to successfully host: Avishek Dalmiya

CAB President Avishek Dalmiya praised Chief Minister Mamta Banerjee, the Chief Secretary, and the Government of West Bengal for letting 75 percent of the fans into the venues, and expressed confidence that the state government’s initiative will provide the state’s sportsmen a new lease on life.

“We are thankful to the honorable Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, chief secretary and Government of West Bengal for announcing the resumption of sporting activities as well as for allowing 75 percent of the capacity of spectators back to the stadium,” said Avishek Dalmiya.

“We feel that it will give a fresh lease of life to the sportspersons of the state. After the New Zealand T20I last year, this time too, CAB is confident that it will be able to successfully host the three T20Is against the West Indies in a similar manner”, he added.

The Indian squad would be seeking to recover their momentum in the home series versus the Windies, who would have been boosted after thrashing a tough England squad in the recent-finished home T20I series. Rohit Sharma will resume heading the Men in Blue after skipping the South Africa series. The ODI series will be contested on February 6, 9, and 11, whereas the 3 T20Is will be contested on February 16, 18, and 20.
