“Both of them (Shreyas and Shikhar) are allowed to light training as per the protocol. However, the medical team will monitor them before a decision is taken about their availability,” a source in the BCCI.

However, the Rohit Sharma-led team didn’t seem to notice the absences in the first ODI. Upon batting first at the stadium, the West Indies were knocked out for a mere 176. India’s chase was flawless, as they reached the target in just 28 overs and won the match by 6 wickets. The Men in Blue now leading the 3-match ODI series 1-0.

KL Rahul, who has been missing for the 1st match, has joined the team for the 2nd ODI. Mayank Agarwal, his Karnataka teammate, is also available to play. Ishan Kishan batted first with captain Rohit Sharma in the 1st ODI. Meanwhile, vice-captain Rahul is almost certain to start the 2nd game.

“Their (Mayank and Rahul) coming back after quarantine makes our unit stronger. At the end of the day, it is the team management’s call as to who will play or not. We are really happy to have them back,” batter Suryakumar Yadav said on the eve of the second ODI.
