KL Rahul is probably out of the T20I against Sri Lanka once the Chetan Sharma-led committee makes decisions.

Kl Rahul out of India team

India is preparing to give opportunities to T20 specialist players in the upcoming white ball series against Sri Lanka. India is to play a three-match T20I series against the Lankans set to start on January 3. Let us look details on Kl Rahul out of India team against Sri Lanka T20I.

According to the Reports, KL Rahul will be among the names that may well be getting break from the T20 squad. The Cricketer will be out of the Squad ahead of the Sri Lanka Series seeing the performance of the Cricketer.

KL Rahul’s form in all formats has been dismal this year. The stand-in Indian captain in the Bangladesh test series has been poor in all formats. He somehow managed 137 runs (Average of 17) in tests, 251 runs (Average of 27) in ODIs, and 434 runs (Average of 29) in T20Is this year. Sources from BCCI say he will be omitted by the Chetan Sharma-led selectors committee for the Sri Lanka series.

IND vs BAN: KL Rahul in the Past Series against Bangladesh

Stand-in skipper KL Rahul led India to a Test series win in Bangladesh and whitewashed the hosts to clinch the series 2-0. There have been strong criticisms of his batting form as he managed 152 runs in seven innings in Bangladesh. He scored 95 runs in three ODIs and 57 runs in four Test innings.

Rahul has struggled in Test cricket this year, scoring only 137 runs with one half-century and averaging only 17.12 in eight innings. Rahul has been India’s mainstay opener alongside Rohit Sharma for some time now, and he put up a fantastic performance against England last year in the four Tests India played as part of the 2021 series.

KL Rahul Needs to go back and play some red-ball cricket in the domestic leagues. Also, get some confidence for the international leagues His pathetic form is continuing even in the Bangladesh test. BCCI needs to step in and make some changes in the team, Otherwise, the team will be performing in the same momentum.

“The old committee will probably select the Sri Lanka white ball squad,” a BCCI source told PTI on conditions of anonymity.

Chetan Sharma and his selectors’ committee got sacked by the board for poor performances. But the new committee is yet to be named, The Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC) will name the final list of new selectors. It will take place  between December 26 to December 28. So, the old committee will take the call for the Indian squad against Sri Lanka.

What About Rohit Sharma’s Injury, ahead of IND vs SL series

As of now, it doesn’t look like Rohit Sharma’s finger will heal enough before the T20Is and in that case, Hardik will lead the side.

Virat Kohli also set to get rest despite having a terrific time in the shortest format. There is also a concern who leads the team. As, Hardik Pandya looks like the front-runner for now. India will have to get things back on track after their disappointing time in the T20 World Cup.

Chetan and his committee are still watching domestic cricket. They watched the full Vijay Hazare Trophy and also the first two rounds of Ranji Trophy. Debasish Mohanty was present at Eden Gardens to watch Bengal vs Himachal Pradesh. Basically, they got a two-month extension till December 25,” the official said. Plenty of new applicants have applied to take up the new role of selectors. Over 600 applications were submitted as the CAC prepares to filter five names for the selection panelists.
