Shardul Thakur has been named in the India A squad, which is currently playing the New Zealand A team in Bengaluru. According to the reports, the India all-rounder has been nominated as a replacement for the young pacer, Prasidh Krishna who had to withdraw from the three-match series owing to a back ailment. Because of his selection to the India A team, the Mumbai player was forced to withdraw from the West Zone squad for the Duleep Trophy, for which he had previously been chosen. Chetan Sakariya of Saurashtra has been named in his stead in the zonal team.

The West Zone selectors met on Sunday and chose the 24-year-old Rajkot left-arm bowler for the Ajinkya Rahane-led side that will compete in the inter-zonal competition in Tamil Nadu from September 8 to 25.
