MS Dhoni broke out the silence on his retirement talk, dismissed the reports as rumors and said that a lot of people wanted him to retire before the World Cup match against Sri Lanka.

Dhoni was under severe criticism with his way of approach in last few matches in the World Cup. Every one including Sachin Tendulkar and Sourav Ganguly pointed him out for his lack of intent in the match against England where India lost by 31 runs.

Despite lots of criticism from every corner, Dhoni has received the backing from Indian team management including Capitan Virat Kohli and Vice-Capitan Rohith Sharma.

On Friday, before India’s final match against Sri Lanka, Dhoni said that he has no plans of retirement for now however he was certain that some people want him to get retired before the match against Sri Lanka.

“I don’t know when I will retire. But a lot of people want me to retire before the game against Sri Lanka,” – Dhoni said.

Dhoni has confirmed that his indication was not toward any member of the reporting team nor the coaching staff.

It was wrongly reported that India’s last match in the World Cup would be the last match for the Dhoni too.

“You never know with MS Dhoni. But it is unlikely that he will continue to play for India after this World Cup. But since his decisions to quit captaincy from the three formats have been taken so suddenly, it is very difficult to predict at the moment,” – BCCI officials told.

Srilanka fast bowler Lasith Malinga told ahead of India Vs Sri Lanka match that former Indian Capitan should play for another two to three years more.
