West Indies all-rounder Andre Russell is ruled out of ICC World Cup 2019 due to injury in his left knee.

Andre Russell has played 4 matches for West Indies in the world cup but was unable to make a good play as in IPL. He was considered as one of the key players in West Indies squad, he took two wickets in the opening win over Pakistan and another two against Australia.

Russell made only 36 runs at an average of 12. He couldn’t take a single wicket while playing against England and took one wicket for 42 runs against Bangladesh. In an overview of 4 matches, he has made five wickets with an economy rate of 5.31.

In the present scenario, West Indies stands at the eighth position of the ICC points table and the chances of them to be in semi-finals looks very narrow because of fewer points and top teams are performing good so it may be the end of west indies.

Top-order batsman Sunil Ambris has been confirmed for the replacement of Russell and will join the team for practice, for the match against India at Old Trafford, on 27th June.
