The finals went on with a tie between England and New Zealand in the World Cup. New Zealand has scored 241 for 8 and England was to chase 242 to win the match.
But England made 241 and the match was tied. To relieve the tie of finals they went for a Super Over. Even the Super Over couldn’t finalize the result as it was also a tie.
As per the rules of cricket in ICC, when the match is tied in finals as well as in super over then the team having more boundaries lifts the world cup. Taking the rule into consideration, England has more boundaries and won the World Cup Trophy.
Many were disliked by this rule which ICC has put forward to finalize the winner of the World Cup. Everyone was questioning how the number of boundaries decides the winner of a huge tournament and feels that trophy should have been shared instead of deciding the winner with the rules.
Former Cricketer and experts took to Twitter to express their views. Some say it is ‘ridiculous’, some other as ‘horrible’ and some as ‘cruel’.
Even Bollywood Star Mr. Amitabh Bachchan has taken his word on the controversy.
