IND-W vs NZ-W Player Battle

India women’s cricket team will be up against New Zealand in the fourth match of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2024 on Friday. Let’s look at IND-W vs NZ-W Player Battle.

Both teams are considered as giants in cricket world, with New Zealand having an upper hand over India as far their Head-to-Head is concerned.

However, India’s line-up is rich and the presence of like Smriti Mandhana and Deepti Sharma, make the team a formidable force.

Let’s look at the challenges both teams can face during arguably the biggest match of the first five in the marquee event.

Smriti Mandhana vs Lea Tahuhu

Team India vice-captain Smriti Mandhana is highest ranked Indian batter in T20 batters’ rankings and is the backbone of India’s batting line-up.

Mandhana is the second highest run-getter in Women’s T20Is with 3493 runs, but she needs to pay extra attention while facing the experienced Lea Tahuhu, who has the reputation of taking big wickets.

Shafali Verma vs Leigh Kasperk

Shafali Verma has changed the style of India’s batting with her aggressive approach to provide the team a solid start for quite a time now. Verma’s exploits with the bat as an opener has been a cornerstone of India’s power-house team.

Verma can face a tough challenge from New Zealand’s off-break veteran Leigh Kasperk, who has a good track record against India. She has collected 10 wickets in eight T20I games against India and her clever bowling generally irritates the batters and they throw their wickets away in pressure.

Deepti Sharma vs New Zealand’s middle-order

Deepti Sharma is the second ranked all-rounder in the Women’s T20 Rankings and is the most consistent all-rounder in recent times. Not only with the bat Deepti has provided India breakthroughs just at the right time when her side needed her contribution the most.

The New Zealand side will need to be aware of Deepti’s gripping bowling in order to make progress in the game.
