AUS-W vs PAK-W Highlights Today Match

Australia recorded their third win in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2024 after beating Pakistan by nine wickets in the 14th match of the tournament on Friday. 

The victory was also similar to their first two wins, as it was also achieved quite comfortably. Australia with this win remained at the top on the points table with a solid net run-rate of +2.786 that increased their chances to qualify for the semifinals.

Invited to bat, after playing the first three overs quite decently, Pakistan started to lose wickets at quick intervals, as none of their batters showed signs of staying at the crease for long. 

Aliya Riaz scored the most runs for team Pakistan with a 32-ball 26, other than that only three players touched the double-digit mark.  

Ashleigh Gardner led the bowling department for Australia in the game, as she bowled a spell of 4-0-21. Annabel Sutherland and Georgia and Wareham both claimed 2-2 wickets each.  

While Megan Schutt and Sophie Molineux also managed to take 1-1 scalp each, as Pakistan only able to post 82 in 20 overs.

Australia’s dominance in World Cup

The defending champions, after showing their dominance with the ball, displayed their supremacy with bat and chased down the target in only 11 overs. 

Beth Mooney played a knock of 15. Captain Alyssa Healy scored a superb 37 off 23 before walking back to pavilion as retired hurt, while Ellyse Perry (22*) and Ashleigh Gardner (7*) completed the run-chase.

Pakistan’s semifinal chances

The win not only dented Pakistan’s net run-rate but also made the task to qualify for the semifinals more difficult.  

Pakistan women will need to win their final league stage game against New Zealand women by a big margin to stay in semis contentions. However, if India women beat Australia on Sunday, then Pakistan will be eliminated.
