India T20 World Cup squad Update: The T20 World Cup is about to start in 33 days and the fans all around the world are eagerly waiting to see India’s 15-member squad.
The deadline to provide the provisional squad list to the ICC is May 1, and all teams will need to announce their squad by Wednesday.
With only 3 days left for the deadline all eyes are on the Indian cricket board, Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), as when they will make the names public.
Rohit Sharma is the only finalized name in the squad as of now, who will lead the side as well. While Jasprit Bumrah is likely to be selected as the leading fast bowler. Seasoned batter Virat Kohli, Shivam Dube and spinner Kuldeep Yadav are sure shot picks in the squad based on their current form.
There are questions around Suryakumar Yadav and Rinku Singh’s inclusion, who performed in patches in the ongoing IPL. While Hardik Pandya and Ravindra, both can deliver as per his caliber, they may confirm their berths due to their all-around expertise.
The biggest challenge in front of selectors is to pick the best 2 wicketkeeper batters. And there are plenty of options in front of them such as Rishabh Pant, KL Rahul, Sanju Samson, Jitesh Sharma and Dinesh Karthik.

Sanju Samson is leading the race with the most runs, average and strike-rate in IPL 2024 so far, while KL Rahul and Sanju Samson both are not too behind. Veteran Dinesh Karthik is also playing well as a finisher for RCB.
According to media reports, Rishabh Pant will be picked as the first-choice wicketkeeper though, while there is a race between Sanju and Rahul.
Fast bowling department is also a cause of concern for the selectors due to non-availability of star bowler Mohammed Shami. Arshdeep Singh is set to be selected as the second leading pacer in the absence of Shami.
Siraj’s form and stats in T20s is not going in favour of his selection, and majority of cricket experts believe the young speedster Mayank Yadav, who has the ability to bowl at 155 kph with accuracy.
