Australia team combination for T20 World Cup 2024

Australia, the current champions of 2 ICC trophies are aiming to clinch the third title in one year, for that they have selected the best squad.

The Aussies are the current WTC and ODI world cup champions and are once again seen as favorites to win another event before the start of the tournament only.

The only change can be seen in group is the leadership role, as the Aussies won both ICC trophies last year under Pat Cummins, while Mitchell Marsh has been appointed Australia captain for the T20 World Cup, starting June 2.

Openers

David Warner and Travis Head are the proven openers likely to start the proceedings for Australia in the marquee event.

Middle Order

Skipper Mitchell Marsh has played some good knocks while batting at number for his side. He is also a destructive batter, so if any of the openers fail in some games, Marsh will be there to rescue the side with his aggressive batting style.

Stoinis, who scored an unbeaten ton while chasing a 200-total while batting at number 3 in IPL 2024, is the best candidate to come at 2-down for Australia, as he knows exactly when to anchor the innings and when to shift his gears.

Maxwell’s form lately has been a course of concern, but he is a big match player, and it is extremely crucial to keep him in the playing 11 due to his power hitting yet bowling and fielding’s sound approach.

Finishers

All the top-5 Australian batters are having one thing is common that is, power hitting, while on top of that, they have Tim David and Josh Inglis as the perfect finishers to play at number 6 & 7, who hold the ability to change the game at any point of time.

Bowlers

Mitchell Starc has shown what he is capable of in the knockouts of recently concluded Indian Premier League (IPL). He has played a crucial role in guiding KKR to their third IPL title and has won player of the match awards in both the games (qualifier 1 and final).

He is the biggest threat to any opposition team due to his ability to move away the ball in the initial overs and toe-crushing yorkers during the final overs of the innings.

Joining him is none other than one of Australia’s best pacers, Pat Cummins. The former skipper has all the variation needed in the shortest format of the game and is a key member, who knows exactly how to restrict the opposition in the 7 to 15 overs phase of the game. Josh Hazlewood is the third best pacer likely to play, while Adam Zampa is the perfect leg-spinner to be included in the playing 11.

Australia will start their World Cup campaign against Oman on June 5. They are part of Group B alongside England, Namibia, Oman, and Scotland.
