Australia have announced squads for the upcoming ODI series against Zimbabwe and New Zealand will be played in August-September 2022.
Team Aussies test captain Pat Cummins has been rested for both the series. While Adam Zampa, Sean Abbot and Ashton Agar are back in the squad.
The 3-match ODI series with Zimbabwe will start from August 28 to September 3. While the series against the neighbours New Zealand will commence on September 6.
Team Australia recently back from Sri Lanka after being for a month for all-format games. At there, they had a good outing in T20Is, which they won by 2-1. However, their Sri Lanka stopped their winning campaign in ODI and the men in yellow faced a series defeat by 3-2. While the 2-match test series finished at an even level 1-1.
Who is the Captain of Australian Cricket Team?
Aaron Finch will continue to lead the Australian side, with David Warner, Steve Smith, Marnus Labuschagne and Alex Carey will be there in squad to provide the batting strength.
Glenn Maxwell, Marcus Stoinis and Mitchell Marsh are the all-rounders. While Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood, Adam Zampa will be there to lead bowling department.
Considering the workload, Cricket Australia provided rest to their test captain Pat Cummins.
In the last couple of months, the trend to give rest to star players have been used by the cricket boards.
In June, the Board of Control for Cricket in India used this strategy. They provide all-format players like, Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and Jasprit Bumrah rest for the South Africa series at home.
Recently, England Cricket Board also used this strategy while announcing the squad for the upcoming South Africa series by giving rest to their Test skipper Ben Stokes.
Now, the Cricket Australia by following this trend has provided the rest to Australian test captain Pat Cummins for the next Zimbabwe and New Zealand series.
