Who will host the IND vs PAK clash in Champions Trophy 2025?

After several months of negotiations, a breakthrough has finally been made regarding the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy, with a hybrid model now in place. India and Pakistan’s matches during the 2024-2027 cycle will be held at neutral venues, ensuring fairness and solving security concerns for both teams. The big question now is whether the neutral venue will be the UAE or Sri Lanka. So let’s look at who will host the IND vs PAK clash in Champions Trophy 2025?

With the hybrid role resolving the ongoing venue dispute between the ICC, BCCI, and PCB. The move also opens the door for a potential India-Pakistan tri-series, reviving cricketing ties between the two nations.

Relief after a month-long deadlock

With BCCI announcing that India would not travel to Pakistan for the tournament, which led to a long standoff with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). Mounting pressure from fans and stakeholders was starting to get to ICC. ICC had to resolve the issue, to keep making sure the tournament rolling and make sure everyone on either side was satisfied.

ICC proposed a hybrid model, which was agreed upon. Under this model, all India-Pakistan matches in the 2024-2027 cycle will be played at neutral venues. This includes the 2025 ICC Men’s Champions Trophy, which will be hosted by Pakistan, the 2025 ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup in India, and the 2026 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka. In return, Pakistan will play its matches at neutral venues during events hosted by India.

UAE or Sri Lanka – who will host the India vs Pakistan clash?

The neutral venue for the 2025 Champions Trophy is still to be confirmed, with the UAE and Sri Lanka in line. The Pakistan Cricket Board favors Sri Lanka, while logistical factors will be favoring the UAE. If the UAE is chosen, Dubai will host the highly anticipated India-Pakistan match, with Abu Dhabi and Sharjah as potential venues.

Additionally, the ICC is considering a tri-series between India, Pakistan, and another Asian full member, or even a quadrangular series involving an associate member. This proposal, part of the PCB’s demand following the hybrid model agreement, would help reduce financial losses for both India and Pakistan by sharing revenue, especially with the two countries not playing a bilateral series since 2013.
