ICC Champions trophy 2025 is all set to return after a 8-year long wait, as team India seeks redemption against Pakistan following their defeat in the 2017 ICC Champions Trophy Final, they aim to avenge that loss and reclaim their dominance on the global stage. What does India’s schedule look like?
India will play their matches in Dubai as agreed upon by the PCB, BCCI and ICC, India is included in Group A alongside Pakistan, New Zealand, and Bangladesh. India has started 2025 on a great tone with a thumping victory over England in the T20I and ODI series. They have shown significant team performances and how they can overcome adversity after facing criticism having lost the BGT series recently against Australia.
India will go against Bangladesh first on 20th February, after which they’ll play against their arch rivals Pakistan on 23rd February, and their final group stage match will be played against New Zealand on 2nd March. India has been a fairly dominant side in the One-day format against the Bangladesh side, if we look at the last decade ODI record against Bangladesh, out of 13 matches played India has won 8 of them.
As we’re on the subject of ODI records, let us have a look at Pakistan and New Zealand as well. In the last decade India has played 7 ODI’s against Pakistan and has won 6 of them, the only defeat being the 2017 Champions Trophy Final. India’s record against New Zealand is decent, having played 23 ODI’s against them they have won 16 of them.
Dubai International Stadium provides a balanced pitch for both batters and bowlers. Early on, fast bowlers tend to benefit from the pitch with swing and bounce. However, as the game progresses, batsmen take control. The middle overs see easier run-scoring, and spinners struggle to maintain control. India will aim to find a balanced squad, to gain an advantage over the opposition teams and have a successful campaign.
