The Indian bowlers, led by Varun Chakaravarthy, Kuldeep Yadav, and Ravindra Jadeja kept the scoring in check with disciplined spells, ensuring that New Zealand couldn’t break free for a massive total. However, a late surge from Bracewell provided a much-needed boost to the Black Caps’ innings. 

1st Innings Update: New Zealand post 251/7 in 50 Overs

New Zealand captain Mitchell Santner won the toss and opted to bat first, hoping to set a formidable target on a slow, gripping surface. New Zealand’s innings, however, got off to a cautious start as Will Young (15 off 23) fell early to Varun Chakaravarthy in the eighth over. 

Rachin Ravindra (37 off 29) looked in good touch, playing some aggressive strokes, but was undone by Kuldeep Yadav, leaving New Zealand at 69/2 in 10.1 overs.  

The biggest setback came when Kane Williamson (11 off 14) departed soon after, caught and bowled by Kuldeep, further denting New Zealand’s top order. 

Daryl Mitchell (63 off 101) anchored the innings, holding one end while wickets fell at regular intervals. Wicketkeeper Tom Latham 14 off 30 struggled to find momentum before being trapped LBW by Ravindra Jadeja.  

Bracewell’s briliance with the bat

The turning point of the innings came when Glenn Phillips (34 off 52) and Mitchell Bracewell unbeaten 53 off 40 stitched a crucial partnership, helping New Zealand recover from 165/5. 

Bracewell’s aggressive innings, featuring three sixes and four boundaries, ensured New Zealand finished strongly.  

India’s bowling attack was disciplined, with Chakaravarthy (2/45), Kuldeep Yadav (2/40), and Ravindra Jadeja 1 for 30 playing key roles in restricting New Zealand to 251/7.
