Melbourne Renegades is a Melbourne city-based franchise cricket team in the Australian domestic Twenty20 cricket Big Bash League (BBL). Melbourne Renegades had won the title once in BBL history. The team was inaugurated back in the very first season of BBL in 2011-12. The Team won the only title in the season 18-19 and hoping to win this time tyhe team has shown some good cricket.

KFC BBL 2011-12

First serving as team captain was Andrew McDonald. Melbourne Renegades’ inaugural season was not successful; they were able to win just two games. Aaron Finch led the Renegades team in runs scored and helped them finish the league stage in last place.

KFC BBL 2012-13 

Aaron Finch was chosen to lead the Renegades when the franchise replaced its squad captain. This season, Aaron Finch became the first Renegades player to score a century by scoring 100 points. They played excellent cricket, winning 7 of their first 8 league matches to go to the playoffs. Brisbane Heat defeated Melbourne Renegades in the semifinal match.

KFC BBL 2013-14

This season, the Renegades struggled once more, winning just three of their eight league contests. Such a good side gave a truly dismal performance. They were unable to advance to the BBL 2013–14 knockout round.

KFC BBL 2014-15 

In the BBL 2014–15, the team acquired top-order batsman Callum Ferguson and wicket-keeper batsman Matthew Wade. The Renegades only managed to win 3 out of their 8 games, despite having outstanding Australian stars on the team. They placed sixth at the end of the season, which was a major disappointment for the group.

KFC BBL 2015-16 

David Saker was hired as the team’s new head coach after this franchise’s previous coach left. In the BBL 2015–16, the Renegades also acquired Chris Gayle, Cameron White, and Xavier Doherty. For Renegades, nothing had ever worked. In the league stage, they only won three of their eight games, placing fifth overall.

KFC BBL 2016-17

In the BBL 2016–17, the Renegades played both hot and cold cricket. In the league stage, they had a winning record of 4 out of 8 games, however they were unable to advance. They finished the BBL 2016–17 season in fifth place.

KFC BBL 2017-18 

In the BBL 2017–18, the Renegades played excellent cricket and advanced to the knockout round. In the second semifinal, Adelaide Strikers defeated the Renegades. Adelaide Strikers won a close game because of their superior teamwork. By just 1 run, Strikers prevailed in the game.

KFC BBL 2018-19 

The Melbourne Renegades’ best season was this one because they won their first BBL championship. The Melbourne Renegades team, captained by Aaron Finch, defeated the Melbourne Stars in the tournament finals to win their first championship. Dan Christian played a significant role for Renegades throughout this season and was also named player of the match in the championship game.

KFC BBL 2019-20 

In the BBL 2019–20, the defending champion Melbourne Renegades were unable to get to the playoffs. Only three of their fourteen league games were victories, and they finished the year in the lowest spot. In the history of the BBL, this was the Renegades’ lowest showing.

KFC BBL 2020-2021:

Renegades almost reached to the play-off in the season. After they won over the Hobart Hurricanes in the 56th match of that season by 11 runs That season Renegades could not make it best out of the league matches as they were at the 7th   spot despite of the win, they could not clear the fence for the knockout round for the title clash.

KFC BBL 2021-2022 

Renegades again ended the fixture at the last spot also with big loss and they ended up only completing the league stage. Also, they lost to the thunders in the 55th match walks back to the dugout. Hence could not cross the play-offs.

KFC BBL 2022-2023 

Melbourne Renegades all the way rolled up the table after the last two seasons Renegades have shown good cricket and they also qualify in the play-offs. Standing at the 3rd spot and they can also clinch a win over the two champions Perth and Sydney Sixers.  Renegades also have a chance to improve their standings on the Points Table Renegades to play the next match against the Brisbane Heats.
