Hotstar offers free streaming for Mobile Users

Hotstar offers free streaming for Mobile Users: Great news for Indian cricket fans out there as the well-known broadcaster Hotsar has announced that it is going to provide a free streaming service to all mobile users to watch the Asia Cup 2023 and the ICC ODI World Cup 2023 as well. The big move by Hostar was announced earlier today and the fans are getting excited to experience something like this.

In order to further democratise cricket and make it accessible to as many mobile users in India as possible, Disney+ Hotstar has decided to remove the paywall for viewers of the Asia Cup and the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup exclusively for mobile devices only.

Why this sudden Move by Hostar?

The decision by Disney+Hotstar comes at a time when one of Asia’s richest businessmen, Mukesh Ambani, has been staking substantially on live streaming of sports competitions in recent months.

The Indian Premier League matches in 2023 attracted a record number of viewers on the recently created JioCinema application. Where the cricket games were available for free watching on JioCinema, which served as the IPL 2023’s official streaming partner. Ambani’s media outbid several other businesses like Disney to secure this IPL’s digital rights and experienced huge traffic into their platform.

So in an effort to compete with Mukesh Ambani’s JioCinema, Disney+ Hotstar said on Friday announced that the Asia Cup 2023 and ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 tournaments will be made accessible as free-to-view to all mobile phone users.

Hotstar Official Comments on this Big Move
