Honestly, We Are Happy To Have Hardik As A Pure Batsman: Nehra

Ashish Nehra on Hardik Pandya

Ashish Nehra on Hardik Pandya: Recently, the TATA IPL 2022 mega auction was completed on February 13. Over 600 cricketers were slated to go under the hammer, and just after the conclusion of the mega auctions, the 10 teams had purchased a maximum of 204 men. The IPL 2022 auction was larger since 2 additional franchises, the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and the Gujarat Titans (GT), made their auction debuts.

The Gujarat-based team will be captained by the dashing all-rounder Hardik Pandya, who was one of three players selected in the inaugural selection along with opener Shubman Gill and top bowler Rashid Khan. The Titans have an all-star coaching staff. Former South African hitter Gary Kirsten, the motivating factor behind India’s World Cup success in 2011, has been appointed as the team’s batting coach and mentor.

I don’t see any T20 team in the world, not talking just about the IPL: Nehra

Former England opening batsman Vikram Solanki has been named Director of Cricket, and former Indian bowler and part of the 2011 WC winning team Ashish Nehra is the team’s head coach. The Titans’ main worry is the fitness and bowling of their captain, Hardik Pandya. The team’s Head  Coach Ashish Nehra, on the other hand, seems unconcerned about the same.

Ashish Nehra on Hardik Pandya

“If he bowls, it’s great. But to be very honest, we are more than happy to have Hardik Pandya as a pure batsman. I don’t see any T20 team in the world, not talking just about the IPL, where Hardik doesn’t fit as a batsman. Whatever number he bats, be it 4 or 5 or 6,” Nehra said.

Pandya has been criticized for his inability to bowl regularly for the Indian squad. Pandya is still yet to play for the Indian squad as a bowling all-rounder following his comeback. Pandya’s inclusion in the team for the T20 World Cup was called into question since he wasn’t in top form with the batting and just couldn’t bowl at full power.

“Yes, there is always speculation around his bowling. If he can bowl for Gujarat Titans, that will be great. But yes, if he is only batting fit, I will be happy with Hardik Pandya,” Nehra added.

Pandya would be hoping for a streak of impressive performances in the 2019 IPL in order to make a return to the Indian team.
