Although the T20I series involving Sri Lanka and India was overshadowed by a COVID positive vision in the visiting camp, several players took use of the occasion to satisfy the specialists. Wanindu Hasaranga, a Sri Lankan leg-spinner, is one of these players. He was instrumental in the hosts’ victory in the 2nd T20I and bowled superbly in the final match of the series. Hasaranga was among the primary reasons as India only managed to score 81 runs in their 20 overs, losing 8 wickets. During his four-over session, the leggie was nearly unstoppable, attacking Indian batters and returning with the miraculous figures of 4/9.

Hasaranga had the Indian batters on the edge of their positions throughout the match, and he enjoyed his 24th birthday spectacularly. In T20 Internationals, he also has the best birthday statistics, passing South African bowler Imran Tahir.

The birthday youngster claimed the wickets of Ruturaj Gaikwad, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Sanju Samson,  and Varun Chakravarthy throughout his superb session. In total, he took 7- wickets in the three-match T20I series versus India, as well as 3 wickets in 2 ODIs.

Sri Lanka managed to keep India to a low score in their 20 overs because of Wanindu Hasaranga’s excellent bowling.
