IPL 2023 Auction: Highest Base price List of players revealed; Sam Curran, Ben Stokes, Kane Williamson in Rs 2 crore band 

991 players have registered for the upcoming IPL 2023 mini-auction, scheduled on December 23 in Kochi. As per BCCI, amongst these 991 players, 714 are Indians. While 277 are overseas players. 185 are capped, 786 are uncapped and 20 players are from Associate nations. Let us look at the Highest Base price List of the IPL 2023 Auction.

The list can be further pruned down based on the instructions from the ten franchises. Apparently, the franchises have until December 9 to decide on the players whom they wish to see at the auction table.

Introduction of impact players as per reports, the BCCI is also contemplating introducing the ‘Impact Player‘ concept in the IPL. The concept was first introduced in Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2022 and the feedback apparently was very good. The board wishes to implement it in the IPL as well.

The BCCI shares a note to the franchises:

“Note that from IPL 2023 Season a tactical/strategic concept will add a new dimension to IPL. Wherein one substitute player per team will be able to take a more active part in an IPL match. The regulations to the same will be issued shortly.”

A total of 21 players, all overseas, have fixed their base price at Rs 2 crore while no Indian player has kept his base price at Rs 2 crore.

10 teams may request BCCI to postpone auction from December 23.

Curran, Who has played for Chennai Super Kings in the past might once again be a choice by his previous franchise. But other teams will also be going after the left-arm seam-bowling all-rounder.

Williamson released by Sunrisers Hyderabad owing to a forgettable IPL 2022. Can also be on the radar of teams who are looking for an international player of repute who can lead the team.

Saurashtra pacer Jaydev Unadkat who has been one of the highest-paid players in the league has set his base price at Rs 50 lakh.

The two-day auction will begin on December 23 and continue on December 24.
