Harbhajan Singh: Hold IPL When Everything Gets Normal

Harbhajan Singh Says A lot of Lives Are On The Line

According to the India off-spinner Harbhajan Singh, the Indian Premier League (IPL) should be held when everything is brought to normal.

Due to the coronavirus outbreak, BCCI has postponed the IPL 2020 to 15th April instead of 29th March.

In an interview, Harbhajan Singh said “ Ofcourse spectators are important, but by looking at the circumstances, I am fine with playing without them. Yes, as a cricketer without any spectator, I won’t get the actual vibe, but this thing will ensure everybody can see IPL on their TV. We will have to be very much cautious about everything now and should be prioritized safety and security of players by ensuring that the game venues, hotels of the team, flights are sanitized properly. A number of lives are on the line so, we should hold IPL when everything gets to normal.”

He also said that he was missing the visits of the field and was missing playing games ahead of a full stadium.

Further, he added “I am missing the matches most, and hoping that I would get to play 17 games after a gap of one year including finals. I am also missing the visits to the field, the lines of fans to meet us, the bikes, motors that used to ride along our bus and I am pretty much sure that each and every fan is missing all these things as well. I hope IPL happens soon, till then I am keeping myself fit for the tournament.”

According to the emergency plans of the BCCI, IPL can be rescheduled between late August and October first (earlier the T20 World Cup in Australia). This thing can only possible only when the deadly virus will be controlled in the next four months.

Depending upon the situation, the decision will be taken. The organizing team of IPL is considering all the facts starting from the participation of overseas players to shortened tournament with only Indian players. For the BCCI, IPL is a grand profit generator and it is very much important for well being of Indian Cricket also.
