The slow left-arm orthodox spinner Harpreet Brar (Happy Birthday Harpreet Brar) is celebrating his 27th birthday today.

Brar was born on September 16, 1995, in Moga, Punjab and is known for his orthodox spin bowling and his dream spell in IPL 2021, in which he dismissed Virat Kohli, Ab de Villiers and Glenn Maxell

He played in the U16 Punjab cricket team. Then, he continued being selected in the U-19 and U-23 Punjab sides.

Harpreet Brar, while playing for Ropar’ under-19 team, claimed a 10-wicket haul in one innings in a district competition against the Hoshiarpur U-19 team that astonished everyone.

At the conclusion of the game, Brar had taken 15 wickets overall. In the first innings, he had bagged five wickets. By capturing 10 wickets in an innings, he tied records held by greats like Jim Laker and Anil Kumble.

Harpreet Brar’s IPL journey so far

Harpreet Brar was got his chance in the Indian Premier League after a seven-year wait and four trials.

Fortunately, the Kings XI Punjab purchased him during the 2019 IPL Auction. He was bought for 20 lakh rupees by Punjab Kings (then, Kings XI Punjab).

Harpreet won his berth in the international team after participating in the IPL 2019. He was included in the India Under-23 team on August 20, 2019, for a five-match one-day series against Bangladesh Under-23. In the second game of the series, he made his debut.

Harpreet Brar’s first IPL wicket came against Royal Challengers Bangalore in the league’s 2021 season.

His first wicket was of then India team and RCB captain Virat Kohli.

In the IPL 2022 Mega Auction, Punjab Kings paid Rs 3.80 crore to bought back Brar.

Brar’s most memorable IPL game

For the uninitiated, Harpreet Brar’s dismissals of Virat Kohli, Glenn Maxwell, and AB de Villiers in a single match in 2021 stole the show.

Harpreet Brar gained notoriety after his game-winning stint helped Punjab Kings overcome Royal Challengers Bangalore in the 26th match of Indian Premier League 202 by 34 runs.
