Happy Birthday Alex Hales: On January 3, 1989, Alexander Daniel Hales was born. He is an English cricketer who currently plays right-handed opening batter for Nottinghamshire and the England cricket team in the white ball, limited-overs formats.

Early Life

Hales was born in Hillingdon and raised in Buckinghamshire, where he did his schooling at Westbrook Hay School and Chesham High School.

Early Recognition

Hales first gained widespread recognition in 2005 when. At the age of sixteen, he scored 55 runs in a single over (three no-balls, eight sixes, and one four) at Lords in a Cricket Idol T20 competition.

Ironically, his rapid bowling skills were the reason he was chosen. Hales played for MCC Young Cricketers in the Second XI Championship in 2007 after making his Minor Counties cricket debut for Buckinghamshire during the 2006 campaign.

He committed to a new two-year contract after the 2009 season got off to a solid start. On August 29, Alex scored the highest Pro40 2009 score at Trent Bridge against Worcestershire, hitting 150 off 102 balls.
