“Global Mentor” for all Super Giants teams: Gautam Gambhir

Gambhir will mentor the Lucknow (IPL) and Durban (SA20) franchises, both of which are part of the RPSG group.

While the cricketing world is focused on the T20 World Cup in Australia. The RPSG group has announced Gautam Gambhir as the global mentor for their cricketing operations. The former Indian opener served as a mentor for the Lucknow Super Giants during the 2022 IPL season.

“He is one of the sharpest cricketing minds going around,” a statement from the RPSG Group read. “The group feels he can not only add value in Indian conditions but across the cricketing map as well.”

Gambhir, a two-time IPL champion, was in the dugout for all of Super Giants’ IPL games and was a key member of the Lucknow franchise’s think-tank during the auction. He was visible on the field during strategic timeouts and addressed the team in post-game dressing room debriefs on a regular basis.

Designations don’t play much of a role in my ideology of a team sport. Gambhir was quoted as saying in the statement. “At best, they are there to facilitate a process that will result in a team victory.” As a global Super Giant mentor, I’m looking forward to taking on more responsibilities.

My drive to win took a flight on a global scale. It will be a proud moment for the Super Giants family to leave their mark on the world. I am grateful to the Super Giants family for having faith in me. It’s probably time for some more sleepless nights.

Gambhir will now collaborate with Durban franchise head coach Lance Klusener. He resigned as Zimbabwe men’s team batting coach on Friday to “pursue professional engagements around the world.

Quinton de Kock, Jason Holder, and Kyle Mayers are also from the Lucknow franchise and play for the Durban franchise. The three were among five players signed up by the franchise ahead of the SA20 auction. With Reece Topley, Dwaine Pretorius, Heinrich Klaasen, Keemo Paul, Keshav Maharaj, Kyle Abbott, Dilshan Madushanka, and Wiaan Mulder joining later.

The inaugural SA20 competition, which will feature teams from Durban, Johannesburg, Paarl, Cape Town, Pretoria, and Gqeberha, will begin on January 10 of next year. IPL team owners purchased six teams.

Gambhir promises world-class matches at the Yamuna Sports Complex.

In the second edition of the Legends League Cricket the former Indian opener was  recently seen in action. Where he led India Capitals to victory, defeating Bhilwara Kings in the final to claim their first trophy. Earlier, the southpaw took to Twitter to share images of the Yamuna Sports Complex. Which he helped build, and captioned the post, “I guarantee to deliver! Yamuna Sports Complex hosts world-class athletes and matches.”
