As the IPL 2021 league stage matches approach to a conclusion, DC, CSK, RCB, and KKR have qualified as the 4 playoff contenders. Because DC and CSK finished first and second, they will compete in Qualifier 1 on October 10, 2021. Recently In light of these developments, legendary cricketer, Gautam Gambhir has shown his support for DC spinner Ravi Ashwin. Gambhir believes Ashwin would miss DC’s upcoming encounter against the CSK. Here is all about what Gautam Gambhir Speaks About Ashwin.

DC’s last match was with RCB, which proved out to be a nail-biter, although Ashwin bowled just one over from his side. Ripal Patel, the young all-rounder from Gujarat, on the other hand, bowled 3 overs. Gambhir believes that Ashwin’s situation may not be certain for Sharjah, as they may choose to select Marcus Stoinis if he is available.

Gautam Gambhir Speaks About Ashwin

“I’m sure they must be considering whether to play Ashwin in Sharjah or probably go with an overseas batter and have Ripal Patel as a bowling all-rounder. Or get Stoinis if he’s available. Because if anything, they were convinced with Ashwin, this was the game to give him four overs, irrespective of what the result of the game was. So, I am not sure whether he is going to play the next game or not. He’s still a quality bowler,” said Gambhir.

Gambhir went on to say that handing one over to Ashwin implied that they are unsure of his effectiveness and, as a result, are not expressing trust in him. In this scenario, they may choose one of their other alternatives versus CSK. Whoever wins Qualifier 1 advances to the finals, which will be held on October 15.

“Probably Ricky Ponting or Rishabh Pant might not even be convinced about his form or the way he’s bowling. By giving him just one over shows that they don’t have confidence in him. So going forward they may pick Ripal Patel or Marcus Stoinis, depending upon his fitness,” he added.
