GAW vs SLK Highlights: Guyana Amazon Warriors on Sunday registered their maiden win of the 2022 Caribbean Premier League season with a victory over Saint Lucia Kings by six wickets at the Darren Sammy National Cricket Stadium.

After restricting Lucia Kings to just 161 in 20 overs, Warriors’ batters showed their class and chased down the 162-run target with 10 balls to spare to open their account.

Earlier, Johnson Charles played a superb knock of unbeaten 87 off 59 that helped Lucia Kings to post 161 on board.

Invited to bat, The Kings made an explosive entrance, soaring to 77-0 in the powerplay before being restrained by spinners Imran Tahir and Tabraiz Shamsi.

In reply, Chandrapaul Hemraj scored five boundaries for the Guyana Amazon Warriors before getting removed in the fourth over. Shai Hope, the other opener, was then caught out two balls later.

Hetmyer and Klaasen nevertheless combined to score runs and keep the Warriors near to their goal. Despite Hetmyer losing his wicket, Klaasen continued to bat to the end and, with the help of Keemo Paul, helped his side cross the finish line with 10 balls to spare.

With the victory, Amazon Warriors have earned their first win of the season and now sitting on fourth position amongst 6 teams on points table. While Saint Lucia Kings, who have lost two games in a row are at last spot after 5 games.
