Gavaskar Apprehensive About Dhoni’s Place In T20 Squad

In a recent interaction, Indian cricketing legend Sunil Gavaskar said it difficult for MS Dhoni to find a place in the T20 squad. The T20 World cup is scheduled to take place this year in the month of October-November and would play in Australia.

“I want him to be a part of the team for the T20 Squad. He is certainly an asset to the team, and his presence can make a lot of difference in the team. But his is less likely to happen,” said Sunil Gavaskar to a reputed media house.

However, the developments in the recent pass of Dhoni taking leave from the cricketing career and joining the army, and his other activities have forced the team to look for an alternative option. This is one of the reasons why his fan following and the faith of the selectors has been fading away, said Gavaskar.

“Things have gone out of hand so much that even if Dhoni retires, it is certainly going to be a low key affair. And his announcement of retirement will make no difference to anyone in the management as well as to the team,” he added.

Stand Of Indian Coach On Dhoni:

The Indian Cricket team coach Ravi Shastri has made it clear earlier that Dhoni’s selection for T20 Squad will depend on this performance in the coming IPL matches.

Career Statistics Of Dhoni:

Dhoni (38) last seen playing for India in the world cup of 2019 in England. During the World Cup, the Indian cricket team knocked out in the semi-finals.

Post this defeat, MS Dhoni has been maintaining a low key profile and has not been prominent in media or on the cricket field.
