Gautam Gambhir’s Dream Not To Be Fulfilled This Year

Gautam Gambhir, former India opener, dreams of being responsible for an IPL side. He wants to take over the team of Delhi franchise but will have to wait for a while. The Indian politician cum previous cricketer was said to have been looking a 10% offer in the group which is jointly bought by JSW Sports and GMR Group.

Delhi Capitals officially said that while talks were on, the process isn’t happening as of now. “There were talks on him coming on board.  There were only talks if you ask me honestly and that is not happening definitely this season. If it does happen later, then that is totally a separate story, but don’t see a possibility of it happening ahead of the 2020 season,” an official said.

Rumors

Rumors were also floating around when Sourav Ganguly had left as a mentor to take over as the BCCI President that Gambhir might take his place. But nothing along those lines has happened, said the official.

“Well no to that question also. We are not so much taking a gander at a guide starting at now. We have a solid unit in mentor Ricky Ponting and the remainder of the care staff. Likewise, we don’t generally have the foggiest idea whether Gambhir can come on board as he added in an MP,” the authority cleared.

BCCI officials confirmed it is not possible this season

“If Gambir does become a mentor with an IPL team there will be no disturbances. Actually, on paper, there would be no contention. Be that as it may, you know how things are these days. There sure are individuals standing by to shoot a mail to the Ombudsman for each conceivable thing to receive some mileage in return. Be that as it may, similar to I stated, on paper, there is no instance of contention if Gambhir becomes a guide,” the authorities said.

Delhi Capitals have seen a drastic change in fortune since the JSW group purchased a 50 percent share in the team for Rs.550 cr in 2019. They selected Ganguly as a mentor and Ponting as a coach and changed the team’s name from Delhi Daredevils. The result was there for all to see as they failed to win the title, but the team fared much better.
