On November 22, 2019, at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata, the landmark first-ever day-night Test match will be played in India.

BCCI President Sourav Ganguly is not leaving any stone unturned to make the most special Test between India and Bangladesh. The focus remains on Eden Gardens with the first Test match being played at Indore’s Holkar stadium.

The Indian players have already begun to train under the lights with SGs pink balls to get ready for the challenge of dealing with the motion.

Rahane and Rohit stressed that the biggest problem was the prodigious movement of the ball off the pitch and in the air. Another curiosity that the experts and fans alike have is about the kind of pitch that will be prepared for the iconic match.

On November 13, Sourav Ganguly promised that his home ground at Eden Gardens would provide a sporting wicket for the historic day-night test between India and Bangladesh on November 22. The recently re-laid Eden turf has traditionally been pace-friendly, and more or less a green top is required.

“It will be a good wicket. It all depends on how the curator prepares the wicket,” Ganguly was quoted as saying.

The former captain of India also pointed out that the newly produced SG pink balls differ from those of kookaburra used in Australia or the Dukes used in England and with a more prominent seam on this one, spinners could also be expected to play a huge role in the upcoming game.

Ganguly, on the other hand, has made sure that India’s first-ever pink-ball Test is nothing short of a spectacle. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Mamta Banerjee of West Bengal and Prime Minister Sheik Hasina of Bangladesh are also expected to participate in the historic event.
