Five Players Who Astonished In IPL But Failed To Do So Internationally

Since the inception of the Indian Premier League, it has discovered many young talents who have been outstanding while playing for the country. IPL has given away for unknown and young players into the international team as many selectors watch the performances of players in IPL.

But there have also many players who impress in the IPL through their terrific performances but have failed to do so in international format.

Take a look at these five foreign and Indian players who stunned in IPL but failed to shine in their national colors:

Dwayne Smith

Dwayne Smith has been an important player of IPL and amazed his fans with some mouth-watering performances. In 91 games, he claimed huge 2400 runs at a strike rate of 135.2 and an average of 28.39. But he unable to perform for his country West Indies, with an average of 18.57, 18.19, and 24.61 in 105 ODIs, 33 T20Is, and 10 Test matches respectively.

Dwayne Smith won two IPL trophies by smashing 17 fifties but he has not been able to cross 10 fifties in ODIs and T20Is for West Indies.

Axar Patel

In the 2014 IPL season, when Axar Patel 1st played with Kings XI Punjab, he was considered as a rising all-rounder of India. In that season, he claimed 17 wickets with an economy rate of 6.13 and got the title of Emerging Player of the year and got a place in the national side.

But at the international level he couldn’t perform that well. In 38 ODIs, he managed to score only 181 runs at an average of 12.32. In the bowling side, he took 45 wickets averaging at 31.31. In 11 numbers of T20I games, he took only 9 wickets with an average of 29.44.

Albie Morkel

The hard hitter, Albie Morkel was a crucial player of IPL for eight successive editions, have won the title with CSK in 2010 and 2011 also. In IPL, the all-rounder of South Africa earned 974 runs averaging at 24.35 and possesses an excellent strike-rate of 141.98. Also, he picked 85 wickets but failed to perform so for his national team. in 58 ODIs, he managed an average of 21.19 and an average of 23.7 in 50 T20Is.

He played only one Test match before taking retirement from all forms of cricket.

Mohit Sharma

Another crucial player of the Chennai Super Kings team is Mohit Sharma, who played an important role in the 2013 IPL edition, where he took 20 wickets and leading his team to the finals. In the 2014 IPL, he claimed 23 wickets and won a purple cap also.

But, his international career is not that good. In 26 ODIs, he claimed 31 wickets at a poor bowling average of 32.90. During the 2015 World Cup, he was a part of the playing XI, took 13 wickets in 8 matches at an average of 24.15.

Chris Lynn

Chris Lynn recognized as one of the most destructive opening batsmen in IPL with Kolkata Knight Riders. In 41 matches, the Australian batsman scored 1280 runs at an average of 33.68 and a strike rate of 140.66.

Based on these performances, he was called for the national team of Australia but his performance was poor on the national side. He appeared in 4 ODIs and 18 T20Is, averaging 18.75 and 19.4 respectively.
