Will KL Rahul stay with LSG or join RCB for IPL 2025, In a stunning turn of events, KL Rahul was seen meeting Lucknow Super Giants owner Sanjiv Geonka on Monday evening.  

There were speculations that Rahul, who was leading LSG team since 2022, might leave the franchise and join RCB (Royal Challengers Bengaluru) for IPL 2025, and the recent meeting with his team owner has left all confused about Rahul’s plan to stay or leave LSG. 

KL Rahul has been the premium wicket keeper batter with an excellent batting record while opening the innings in the cash rich league. His low strike-rate, however, in some games, has grabbed everyone’s attention and some called him a weak T20 batter for his slow knocks. 

Lucknow Super Giants became the part of IPL in 2022, and Rahul was named as the captain of the side. LSG reached playoffs in both 2022 and 2023 editions but failing to make the cut in 2024 due to decent run. There were some rumors of rift between Rahul and LSG’s owner after a match that turned the speculation on of Rahul leaving LSG.  

What happened between KL Rahul and Sanjiv Goenka?

After a match during IPL 2024 between Lucknow Super Giants and Sunrisers Hyderabad, which LSG lost by 10 wickets, KL Rahul and Sanjiv Geonka were seen having an animated chat and the rumors surfaced that Rahul would quit LSG.

But a day after dinner at Dr Goenka’s place ended talks of any rift.

KL Rahul has been emotionally connected with LSG as he has been captaining the side for the last three seasons and went all the way from Mumbai to Kolkata to have a meeting with the franchise owner that lasted for over an hour.  

Rahul is ready to stay with LSG and wants to explore more as a batter and leave the captaincy as per a report by IANS.  

Whether Rahul joins RCB or not will be based on LSG’s move to retain or let him go, as well as on the BCCI’s retention policy, which the board will likely announce soon.

If he becomes the part of the IPL 2025 auction process. There is no assurance that RCB could manage to secure the services of KL.
