India is going great guns with the bat in the 2nd Test against South Africa in Pune, but expect a small twist in the next match of the series which is scheduled to be played in Ranchi.
It is all about the super cool former India captain MS Dhoni. The wicket-keeper batsman has not been seen in action since the World Cup 2019, with his return being uncertain. He was seen playing only in the limited-overs after he retired from Test cricket in 2014. Even after a disappointing World Cup 2019 semi-final, Dhoni was not seen in any of the international games.
Before India reaches Ranchi for their 3rd Test on 15 October, the JSCA vice-president Ajay Nath Shahdeo was questioned of the presence of the Jharkhand boy MS Dhoni in the third Test, but he remained silent. However, the sources say that the top officials had requested the former Indian skipper to attend the match and expected him to be in attendance.
“I have information that Dhoni has consented to watch the game,” – a source in JSCA said.
Shahdeo has said that the management of JSCA has taken some measures in order to allow the fans to watch the practice session of the teams, but everyone who attends it has to take formal written permission for it.
“We will allow cricket lovers to watch the practice sessions provided formal and written requests are made in advance. Also, those allowed for watching the practice session would have to remain in the demarcated areas only,” – Shahdeo said.
