Sourav Ganguly Represents BCCI At A High Level Meeting Of ICC

Sourav Ganguly represented the BCCI at a high-level meeting conducted by ICC on Friday to discuss the contingency plan. During the course of the meeting plans pertaining to the tournaments of ICC, including the T20 world men’s world cup was discussed.

Matches Were Halted In The Light Of Spread Of COVID 19 Infection:

Earlier the matches which were of national, international and domestic nature were suspended by ICC and various other cricket was suspended to curb the menace of coronavirus infection.

This had brought the complete Cricketing fraternity to a standstill, which had also affected the economy of the board.

However, before the meeting, it was speculated that the former president of the board would attend the meeting via video conference and not Sourav Ganguly.

The sporting world has been under complete lockdown after world health bodies instructed to avoid mass gatherings in the form which would trigger coronavirus infection. Several bilateral championship leagues which were planned by the International Cricket Council are now under the threat of being canceled.

“The effect of the pandemic on the sport globally was discussed. We continue to undertake comprehensive business continuity and contingency planning which would help us come up with alternate plans to maintain equilibrium” said a statement in a press release under the name of ICC Chief Executive Manu Sawhney.

A couple of board members during the meeting said the T20 tournament was not under threat as it a scheduled to take place in the month of October, and it is some time away.

Action Plan Of ICC:

If things are under control from June onwards, dates for various tournaments would be rescheduled and things would fall in place.

Towards the end of the video conference meeting, the local organizing committee of Women’s World T20 thanked the board for conducting a successful tournament this year which a record-breaking audience who turned up to see the match between Australia and India.
