I Haven’t Touched The Bat Since My Injury In February:
The outbreak of COVID-19 has forced the world to come to a standstill as more than 2 lakh deaths have been reported worldwide so far. The pandemic has taken on a toll on every person and most governments have now imposed lockdowns to deal with the situation. The epidemic also disrupted sporting activity, and in the wake of the pandemic, all major tournaments were called off.
The much-awaited IPL 2020, which was originally scheduled to start from March 29, has also been postponed indefinitely to tackle the spread of COVID-19. Despite the present scenario, at the moment the resumption of sports events seems grim.
Amidst the lockdown, cricketers are left with no choice but to spend their time with their families indoors. After the pandemic subsides, Team India, which last played against South Africa, will be ready to prepare the field as well.
While interacting live with Mohammed Shami via an Instagram, India opener Rohit Sharma said that after the coronavirus lockdown ends, he will go to Bengaluru for training and batting practice. The swashbuckling opener also announced that since his injury in February, he has not hit the bat.
‘We Should Get More Time For Batting’- Rohit Sharma:
Throughout the quarantine, both Shami and Rohit discussed their lives and also shared their desire to have some practice before they stepped into the field. Shami has also revealed that after the coronavirus lockdown ends, Ashish Nehra had told him about the training camp.
“Ashish Bhai was saying we should set up a training camp as soon as the lockdown opens. You’ll also learn, along with fitness, that if anyone has any injury, “Shami told Rohit during the live session on Instagram.
During the New Zealand tour, Rohit had sustained a calf injury and was to mark his return to IPL 2020 for competitive cricket. However, the right-hander is anxious to get back on the field because of the tournament postponement. Rohit admitted he needs to concentrate on his batting skills as he hasn’t been in contact with the game for several months.
“We should be having more batting time. I was already injured, then just before you came back to Mumbai. In February, I was hospitalized and I haven’t caught a bat ever since. It’ll take two to three months, I think, to practice. Want to work on skills at batting, “Rohit told Shami.
“I don’t think anything can happen in Mumbai, and that’s why I’m going to go to Banglore after the lockdown ends for training and batting practice,” Rohit added.
