New Zealand Tour Of Pakistan
New Zealand all set to tour Pakistan for the all-formats games, starting December this year, confirmed Pakistan Cricket Board.
The visitors will play 2 tests as part of World test Championship and 3 ODIs as part of ICC World Cup Super League from December 27 to January 15. And will return again for 5 T20Is and 5 ODIs form April 13 to May 7.
New Zealand Vs Pakistan – Leg 1
Both teams will play the first test in Karachi from December 27 to 31. While the second will take place at Multan from January 4 to 8. The teams will again return to Karachi for 3 ODIs on January 11, 13 and 15.
New Zealand Vs Pakistan – Leg 2
During their second visit in April, they will play four T20Is in Karachi on (April 13, 15, 16 and 19), followed by the final T20Is and the two ODIs will be played at Lahore on April 23, 26 and 28. While the remaining three one-dayers will take place at Rawalpindi on (May 1, 4, and 7).
“We had promised our passionate fans that we will deliver high-quality home international cricket in 2022. Today’s announcement of New Zealand’s double visit to Pakistan is part of that commitment, said PCB Director – International Cricket, Zakir Khan, in an official media release.
“New Zealand is one of the high-performing sides. And the more we will play against the top teams in our backyard. The better we will get as a unit, which is crucial to our objective of featuring inside the top-three across all formats. The New Zealand matches will also provide opportunities to our youngsters to continue to watch. And follow their favourite players in action, something they have missed when we were forced to play our international cricket offshore,” he added.
What New Zealand Cricket Chief said about the tour?
David White, New Zealand Cricket chief executive said in a statement – “New Zealand and Pakistan share a terrific history in international cricket. And there is genuine respect between the two teams as well as the two boards.”
“The recent tours from Australia and England have left us in no doubt regarding the quality of the Pakistan side across all formats. And the extent of the challenge that awaits us.”
England, who skipped to tour Pakistan last year due to security concerns. Played a 7-match T2OI series this year in Pakistan before arriving in Australia to take part in T20 World Cup. And will again visit the men in green’s country to lock horns for the three-match test series in December.
Earlier this year, Australia too visited Pakistan for a 3-match tests, 3 ODIs, and a single T20. The visitors won test and T20 series, while the hosts tasted success in ODI series.
New Zealand too skipped the Pakistan tour last year just before the first ODI in Rawalpindi due to security reasons.
Both teams are right now in New Zealand for the tri-series, as part of their ICC T20 World Cup 2022 preparations, starting October 16.
