It’s Fine If IPL Doesn’t Happen, Human life Comes First: Harbhajan Singh

The Indian spinner Harbhajan Singh isn’t in favor of the Indian Premier League (IPL) taking place amidst the coronavirus pandemic. Originally IPL was scheduled to start on March 29, but postponed until April 15. Moreover, the famous T20 league also postponed indefinitely after Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended the lockdown until May 3.

There has been some debate about keeping the IPL behind closed doors and without any spectators. Harbhajan suggests that IPL 2020’s future is under the clouds and truly the international cricketers less likely to fly abroad. And he said that cricket can’t be more important than life.

We can’t force to have cricket, says Harbhajan Singh

“Travel in several countries will be restricted in the coming months,” Harbhajan said in an interview. “I do not see foreign players traveling anytime soon”.

“Honestly, if IPL didn’t happen for the first time in 13 years, I think it’s a positive thing. We can not pressure cricket to deal with the difficult situation that we all have. Human life is coming first, cricket can wait,” the veteran added.

The Chennai Super Kings have already started their preparatory camp to prepare for the IPL. MS Dhoni, who hasn’t played cricket since the 2019 World Cup, is also a part of it. In their dismay, they had to dismantle the vision of the world.

Recently, Sourav Ganguly, President of the Control Board for Cricket in India (BCCI), also said that cricket will not be possible in the current situation.
