Suresh Raina Credits One Player For India’s 2011 Title Win:
India’s 2011 World Cup win at home remains a remarkable one. As it was India that lifted the coveted trophy after a period of 28 years. The tournament has also expected India’s iconic batsman Sachin Tendulkar’s last World Cup tournament. The fans wanted the batsman to end his career with a World Cup win under his belt.
Hence, the Indian cricket team took a lap of the stadium with Sachin Tendulkar on their shoulders after MS Dhoni hammered the six off Nuwan Kulasekara to win the final at Wankhede.
Speaking to the media in an interview, Indian batsman Suresh Raina, one of the players of the 2011 World Cup-winning team, says the cool mentality of Sachin Tendulkar was one of the reasons behind India winning the trophy.
“That’s also about his calmness with Sachin Tendulkar. We won the World Cup because of Sachin Tendulkar,’ Suresh Raina said.
“Sachin was the guy who made everyone in the team think we should do that. He was like the team’s second coach,” he said.
With 482 runs in 9 games at an average of 53.55 and a strike rate of 91.98, Sachin Tendulkar ended the 2nd-highest run-scorer in the tournament. India’s Yuvraj Singh, who contributed both batting and bowling during India’s campaign. He also proved to the team’s match-winner on more than one occasion, has named the tournament’s Man of the Match.
The Lockdown Helped Me To Spend Quality Time With My Family:
In the cricket world, Suresh Raina now in the Indian Premier League should have been busy playing for CSK. Yet with the Covid-19 bringing all sporting activities to a standstill, the left-hander reminded us that there were now more important things than cricket games.
“I miss the IPL. There’s a lot of emotions in the IPL about the Chennai Super Kings team, but we need to see the situation now, and we need to be realistic,” the batsman, 33 years old said.
“I was blessed with a baby boy. God was so generous. He’s safe. I’m spending quality time with my son, my daughter and my wife now because of the lockdown,” he said
