Royal Challengers Bangalore lost their first match of IPL 14 when they faced Chennai Super Kings in Match 19 of the ongoing series. Ravindra Jadeja single-handedly drowned RCB’s cruise with his all-around performance. He thrashed RCB bowler Harshal Patel for 37 runs in the last over, which allowed CSK to sit on a comfortable total of 191 runs. RCB lost the match by 69 runs and slipped to the 3rd spot on the points table with Delhi Capitals moving to second place. MS Dhoni’s CSK replaced RCB as the leaders of VIVO IPL 2021.
Here are few things RCB needs to focus upon if they want to reach the IPL 14 playoff
Consistency
RCB are the biggest bottlers in the tournament’s history. They usually start as the favourites before almost every season but end up disappointed. RCB has 4 wins in 5 games and posses an upper hand to finish in the top 4. They need to forget about their loss against CSK and approach the rest of the season with a positive mindset.
Bowling
RCB’s bowling have been their Achilles heel throughout their history. RCB’s bowlers have seldom leaked runs during crucial ties. Virat Kohli needs to focus the most on the bowling department as the season progresses.
Encouraging other batsmen
RCB currently looks like a four-man team when it comes to batting. Except for Virat Kohli, Devdutt Paddikal, AB de Villiers and Glenn Maxwell, RCB can not really rely on any batsmen. Once these four batsmen are out the game is almost over for the Bangalore-based franchise. RCB needs a hero down the order and they should understand the value of it before it gets too late.
