There is always an uncertainty raised for the batting No.4 in the Indian team. However, the youngest player of the team Rishab Pant is set as the heir of legendary wicketkeeper-batsman MS Dhoni. Pant is one of the most sought after youngsters in the country and has already proved himself in Tests by scoring centuries in England and Australia. And he is yet to make an impression in ODIs and T20Is.
Pant looks set to be backed by the team, irrespective of how he has performed. But, former India opener Gautam Gambhir has a different perspective on his side. He believes that Kerala’s wicketkeeper-batsman Sanju Samson shows a good play in the short formants which seems to be a serious threat to Pant’s place. Gambhir has always been praising out for Samson and feels that he might replace Pant in the ODI and the T20I team.
“Rishabh Pant is always exciting but he has to watch his back as my favorite Sanju Samson is throwing some serious challenges at him,” – Gambhir said.
Sanju Samson who has made a good impression in India A side had to maintain his consistency regards with his performance. He has shown an excellent batting against South Africa A in the recent last two games of the five-match one-day series. In the last game, he blasted 91 from just 48 balls to help India A win the rain-affected game.
Further, Rishab pant was seen with miserable performance in the Caribbeans across formats and was under huge criticism. His dismissal was the worst things that ever happened. More often than not, the left-hander fell while playing poor shots. It was fortunate that the team did not drop him in any game. Now it is high time for pant to put on his stand or else he will have to face some tough times.
