Emotional Farewell for Azhar Ali
Even though he did not expect the result of his last innings. As he was dismissed for a duck in his last innings
Azhar Ali Retirement: Azhar Ali’s Test career came to a sudden and heartbreaking end as he was bowled without scoring by a magnificent Jack Leach delivery. One of Pakistan’s all-time finest performers. After the third and final Test against England in Karachi, Azhar announced last week that he would end his career in international cricket.
Azhar went to the wicket on the third day for his final Test innings after scoring a patient 45 in the first innings.
Azhar Ali is expected to finish as Pakistan‘s fifth-highest Test run-getter with 7,097 runs in 96 games at an average of 42.49. Only after Younis Khan (10,099), Javed Miandad (8,832), Inzamam-ul-Haq (8,829), and Mohammad Yousuf (7,530).
Heart Touching Farewell to Azhar Ali
Before taking guard with his team 1-53 on Monday. Azhar enjoyed a rousing round of applause from the Karachi audience and handshakes with England opponents. The right-final hander’s and 180th Test innings, though, only lasted four deliveries. When Leach dismissed him for a duck with a full delivery that spun quickly and struck the top of the off-stump.
Following Leach’s brief celebration, other England players immediately joined him in congratulating Azhar on his career. Players from Pakistan exited from the dressing room and created a guard of honour with bats on the field as Azhar left a Test stadium for the final time as a hitter.
A Career with a Lot of Ups and Downs
Opening hitter Azhar Ali made a name for himself as one of Pakistan’s best batters of his period by developing a compact style and having a lot of patience. On his second test, he achieved his first Test fifty score.
Azhar was named Test captain in 2019 after Sarfaraz Ahmed was fired. Under his leadership, Pakistan won two home series against Sri Lanka and Bangladesh. However, due to a downturn in his personal performance and mounting criticism of his leadership, he only held the position for less than a year.
Pakistan Tweets:
Pakistan cricket board on Monday morning revealed a few images and video of Azhar Ali’s Sendoff. The PCB tweeted saying “For the final time. Farewell, Azhar Ali”
