The World Of Sports Has Been One Of The Hardest-Hit Arenas:
The emergence of the global pandemic which is the novel Coronavirus [COVID-19] has brought to life a screeching halt. All have been placed on the backburner from classrooms, workplaces, colleges and gyms, libraries, airports, train stations as people lock themselves behind closed doors in an effort to protect themselves and avoid the spread of the deadly virus.
The sports world was one of the hardest- arenas with almost high- events like Olympics, La Liga, Premier League, and NBA being delayed to the uncertain future. In cricket the same is true. Cricket websites are returned to original formats to keep viewers involved, with nearly every game being delayed and no live-action to report on.
Fox Cricket has been coming up with Australia’s Probable XI for the upcoming events such as the Ashes and World Cup in a bid to keep the fans involved. The website on Friday projected eleven for the 2023 fifty-over World Cup scheduled to be played in India.
And, on a somewhat shocking note, the website removed from their playing XI the new Australian white-ball captain and swashbuckling opener, Aaron Finch, and selected Steve Smith as their side’s leader.
Fox Cricket Chooses Steve Smith As Captain For 2023 World Cup:
Fox posted on Twitter their probable XI and said that Aaron Finch was as shocked as we are all.
Fox Cricket selected Josh Phillipe-the swashbuckling wicketkeeper-opener to open the innings alongside veteran David Warner, who, unlike Finch, they claim to be an exception to the age rule.
“Whilst we say 36 won’t be too old for Warner, we expect he’s the exception. That means that Aaron Finch-who has chosen the same age-is not making our XI. Talented youngster Josh Philippe comes in his place whose future looks terribly bright, “Fox Cricket said.
The one-down spot, meanwhile, is occupied by Marnus Labuschagne, picked by Steve Smith– the side’s appointed captain. Alex Carey and swashbuckler Glenn Maxwell were selected as the finishers while Cameron Green, Adam Zampa and Ashton Agar were selected as spin-attack leaders. Ironically, only two pacers were selected in-play XI in the form of Mitchell Starc and Pat Cummins.
